Want to Take Toys With You on Holiday?

Pack clever and you can have enough space for all their favourite toys.

When you are packing for a holiday one thing that is always an issue is space.

You might think packing for children is easier simply because their clothes are smaller, however there are plenty of other things that you may want (or need to) cram in their smaller sized suitcases. Continue reading

Airline Luggage Charges

I have written at some length about airline luggage allowances before but it would appear that the situation is becoming ever more complex. As if paying extra for checking luggage wasn’t already a big enough pain, now airlines are inventing more and more ways to charge for the things that you take on to the aircraft. Not only does this mean that flying is getting more costly, it also makes price comparison a lengthy and arduous process. The price of a ticket is supposed to be transparent but frankly it is now as clear as mud. Continue reading

The Future of City Centres

Much of Europe is now emerging from recession which is good news for retailers but there is still a rocky road ahead.  Life for retailers changed forever with the arrival of ecommerce. Online sales continue to grow and so it is only retailers who embrace this new world who will survive.  Big questions are being asked about the future of retail and many of these surround the nature of our city centres and high streets. Holidays for the Menopausal Woman

The menopause will typically give a woman plenty to think about. It is the end of an era that can actually also feel like the beginning of the end and there are many inconveniences to be accommodated. These can have a serious impact on a holiday and so women of a certain age may have to carefully consider their travel plans and I should know because I am just such a woman. Continue reading

The Paranoia of Modern Life

As a writer my work necessarily entails a great deal of research. I am always looking for breaking news and interesting stories but I sometimes wonder if I would be a lot happier if I didn’t. Useful Travel Accessories – The Sewing Kit

When you are packing for your next trip it is easy to remember your swimming gear and beach towel and for the outdoor adventurer your walking boots and your camera. There are many useful accessories that you should also consider squeezing in and one of them is a small sewing kit. I have lost count of the amount of times that these little marvels have come in handy for me and I now never travel without one wherever I am going.

Why Self Catering?

IMG_0307 (750x500)

The thought of cooking on holiday fills some people with dread. After all we go on holiday to escape the chores and our normal lives. At least that is the general idea. So self-catering is firmly off the menu when many travellers book their trips but not for me. I always go self-catering if the option is available and not just because I enjoy time in the kitchen. Holiday Footwear

Holidays are exciting and special times that we all look forward to. There is nothing quite like that feeling when you choose your clothes for the trip and start packing but when you are preparing for any trip it is crucial to select the right footwear. That new bikini and summer dress might make you feel good but think carefully about what you may or may not do on the holiday because the wrong shoes can quickly ruin a wonderful day. Strange British Customs

When travelling abroad as well as exploring new ground and learning about other cultures I always find it fascinating to hear how other people view Great Britain. It never ceases to amaze me what features of my homeland attract the most interest and what a bizarre vision of life over here some people have. This is particularly true of Americans, many of whom seem to believe that we all live in chocolate box cottages, travel everywhere in red buses and always go to work in bowler hats. Continue reading
